Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) Genetic Testing Fund
The Genetic Testing Fund was established by Georgia CORE in January 2014 to provide access to genetic testing for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) by underinsured Georgians. Genetics professionals around the state identified eligible individuals based on specific income and medical criteria including those at high risk for HBOC or a recent HBOC - related cancer diagnosis. Funded through the Breast Cancer License Tag Program, the Fund has provided support for 70 tests for underinsured Georgians, including 26 individuals with a recent cancer diagnosis, who would not have otherwise been able to afford testing with subsequent surveillance and management guidance.
