New Video Stream: Breast Cancer Trials Offered through Georgia CORE Research Network

August 11, 2008

Georgia CORE has developed a partnership with Emory Winship Cancer Institute to give patients across the state access to Investigator-Initiated trials. Participating Georgia CORE Research Network members in community practices now have access to these Investigator-Initiated studies through Georgia CORE.

With the help of an educational grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Ruth O’Regan, MD and Amelia Zelnak, MD created a video stream that explains the most recent breast cancer studies offered through Georgia CORE:

  • Randomized Phase II Trial of Sequential Docetaxel followed by Capecitabine versus Concomitant Docetaxel/Capecitabine as Induction Therapy for Early Stage Breast Cancer

  • Phase II Neoadjuvant Trial of Trastuzumab in Combination with Dose-Dense ABI-007 (Abraxane) Followed by Vinorelbine for HER2 Overexpressing Early Stage Breast Cancer

Dr. O’Regan is the Associate Professor of Hematology and Oncology at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute, Director of Winship's Translational Breast Cancer Research Program and a Georgia Cancer Coalition Distinguished Cancer Scholar. Dr. Zelnak is a Medical Oncologist and an Assistant Professor in Hematology and Oncology at the Emory Winship Cancer Institute.
