The Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education (Georgia CORE) and Georgia Society of Clinical Oncology (GASCO) co-sponsored a quarterly clinical trials training program on March 25, 2008. Statewide participation was evident, with attendees from the Rome, Atlanta, Macon, Albany and Savannah areas. Over 30 participants received training in “ACoS Commission on Cancer Standards” and the two-part “Dangerous Goods Shipping: Class 6 Toxic & Infectious Substances”. Speakers included Patti Owen, MN, RN, Director, Oncology Services at Northside Hospital and Andrew J. Allen, RN, BSN, CCRP, Manager, Network Development and Educational Service at the Accelerated Community Oncology Research Network (ACORN).
