Representing the Georgia Cancer Coalition, Dr. Margaret Offermann is the Deputy National Vice President for Research for the American Cancer Society. She joined the American Cancer Society after serving on the faculty of Emory School of Medicine for 17 years. While on the faculty at Emory University, supervised the inpatient oncology service, the oncology consult service and the oncology outpatient clinical as part of the internal medicine residency program and subspecialty training program in oncology at Grady Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Offermann is a medical oncologist and tumor biologist who joined Emory School of Medicine in 1989 after completing a fellowship in medical oncology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. As the Deputy National Vice President for Research, Dr. Offermann assists with the leadership of all intramural and extramural research programs at the American Cancer Society. She also assists with the development of strategic plans to integrate activities across the research Department, Cancer Control Sciences and health Promotions section.
