Representing the community-at-large on the Georgia CORE Board of Directors, Dr.
Kennedy is a surgical oncologist in private practice with DeKalb Surgical
Associates in Decatur, Georgia. He has served as the Chief of Surgery at DeKalb
Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia, and is the chairman of the Cancer
Committee. He is also the Georgia State chairman for the Commission on Cancer
Liaison Physician program and President-Elect for the Georgia Surgical Society.
Dr. Kennedy provided leadership in the development of the Greater Atlanta
Regional Program of Excellence.
Dr. Kennedy’s clinical interests include minimally invasive surgical treatment
for breast cancer; his research interests include accrual of patients with
solid tumors to the tissue bank, and in the increased utilization of
microassays for staging purposes, and targeted therapies for breast and colon
cancer. Dr. Kennedy earned his Doctor of Medicine from Temple University,
completed his surgical residency and chief residence at Emory University, and
is board-certified in Surgery.
