Dr. John Kennedy is a surgical oncologist in private practice with DeKalb Surgical Associates in Decatur, Georgia. He previously served as Chief of Surgery at DeKalb Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia, and currently chairs the Cancer Committee. Dr. Kennedy has served as the Georgia state chairman for the Commission on Cancer Liaison Physician program, and past president of the Georgia Surgical Society. He provided leadership in the development of the Greater Atlanta Regional Program of Excellence. Dr. Kennedy’s clinical interests include minimally invasive surgical treatment for breast cancer. His research interests include accrual of patients with solid tumors to the tissue bank, the increased utilization of microassays for staging purposes, and targeted therapies for breast and colon cancer.
Dr. Kennedy received his Doctor of Medicine from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and completed his surgical residency and chief residence at Emory University’s affiliated hospitals. He is board-certified in Surgery.
